News from ShowStoppersShowStoppers previews blizzard of tech coming for digital holidays
NEW YORK, 27 Sept. 2007 – Months before Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa and Black Friday, 32 companies previewed a blizzard of forthcoming digital toys and tools at ShowStoppers® for the Digital Holidays, a press-only event held last night in New York City. The product showcase inaugurated the new event center at the new New York Times building in mid-town Manhattan – and ShowStoppers opened its doors early for reporters and editors of the New York Times working on deadline. ShowStoppers also broke new ground with “Into Tomorrow” and PodTech.net broadcasting from inside ShowStoppers; with business journalism students from New York University working the press event for a class assignment; and the sponsor companies were scouted by Gadgetoff, an annual New York event for educators, entrepreneurs, artists, creators, visionaries and geniuses who push the envelope of invention. Into Tomorrow is the radio network program that covers the latest in consumer electronics and technology. Broadcasting for over 12 years on the Advanced Radio Network and hosted by Dave Graveline, Into Tomorrow is a three-hour program airing every weekend on over 100 stations across the US and Canada and on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. The show is also beamed by satellite to the Armed Forces Radio Network and to over 140 countries. PodTech streamed live video coverage, product demonstrations and executive interviews from ShowStoppers to its team of pioneering and influential technology reporters, analysts, bloggers, vloggers and podcasters located in Silicon Valley and around the world. PodTech and ShowStoppers also hosted a Virtual BlogHaus Beta that provided Internet access for journalists and bloggers to use as they uploaded print and online coverage from the press event. Hundreds of reporters, editors and columnists attended, including radio and TV networks ABC, Bloomberg, BBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, MTV, NBC and SciFi; blogs and online networks crunchgear, engadget, gizmodo, CNET and ZDNET; and Consumer Reports, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, GQ, Inc., Maxim, New York Post, New York Times, Newsday, Popular Science, Scientific American, Smart Money, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. Details of the product and service introductions are posted to the ShowStoppers NewsDesk blog. The sponsoring companies included Axentra, BlueAnt Wireless, Backpackshield, Ceiva Logic, Check Point Software Technologies, Diskeeper, D-Link Systems, Farstone Technology, Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc., Griffin Technology, Hughes Network Systems, Imation and Nickelodeon, Interactive Toy Concepts, Iomega, Jakks Pacific, Kingston Technology, Leapfrog Enterprises, magicJack, Meridian America, Mitek, Nero, Noromis, Paragon Software, Quartics, Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), Sennheiser, Shure, Sling Media, Smith Micro Software, Virtuu USA, Zipit Wireless, and Zyxel Communications.
