BERLIN, GERMANY, 3 Sept. 2009 – Hundreds of top journalists, analysts and bloggers previewed new technology products for work, home and play last night in Berlin, Germany, at ShowStoppers®, the official press event of IFA 2009.
The invitation-only event topped off a day of press, industry and business-only activities that occur before the largest consumer-electronics and home-appliances tradefair outside North America opens to the public 4 September.
ShowStoppers @ IFA 2009 – Business meets Press” organized product introductions, sneak previews and demonstrations for selected journalists, bloggers, industry and financial analysts, venture capitalists and business executives attending IFA. Industry execs included leaders from Panasonic, Sony, Sharp, Loewe and other member companies of the gfu, http://www.gfu.de, which organizes the show with Messe Berlin, http://www.messe-berlin.de. Invited industry leaders included executives from Samsung, Bosch, LG, IBM and many others.
This is the second annual showcase event that ShowStoppers produced in Berlin at IFA, continuing press activities that began with IFA 2008.
For the second year, ShowStoppers also organized a team of top U.S. journalists and analysts who traveled to the show for press conferences, product introductions, meetings, interviews and other activities.
In addition, as IFA opens Friday, ShowStoppers is also producing with IFA, Messe Berlin and the gfu a press panel exploring US retail trends. Speakers include industry analysts Ross Rubin of NPD and Rob Enderle from Enderle Group; John Biggs, editor of Crunchgear; and Susan Schreiner, columnist for Dealerscope.
ShowStoppers organized similar “press meets business” panels for IFA 2008 – and at the IFA International Press Previews in April 2008 and in Malta in April 2009.
