During ShowStoppers, Aviat Networks will be introducing a significant new capability for its market-leading Eclipse™ Packet Node wireless backhaul solution. Details are embargoed.
From watching BBC iPlayer to downloading the latest iPhone application, demand is growing for more data-rich services on increasingly intelligent smartphones. The proliferation of these rich media-enabled devices throughout the EU, is beginning to take a noticeable toll on available capacity. Consumers are using these devices to surf the Web, check email, download apps, watch YouTube videos and interact on social media like Facebook and Twitter - often replacing the home computer as their primary device for internet access. This has resulted in wireless carriers, in particular AT&T in the US and O2 in Europe having well-publicised network issues due to over-burdened backhaul networks. This problem, which results in increasing numbers of drop-outs, slow data connections and negative user experiences, will only worsen until the carriers increase capacity.
To address this growing issue, and ensure end user experience is not negatively impacted, mobile operators must be ready to migrate to the next-generation networks that have the required capacity.
